Summary

This project involved a demonstration of light expanded clay aggregate (LECA®) as the media in a biofilter at a red meat processing facility. LECA® is commonly used in Europe but not seen in the Australian red meat industry. Media and design criteria are assessed and tested to recommend a standard biofilter design methodology for the industry.
