Friday daily sheep summary

Lamb numbers at Wagga increased 45% this week, to 43,000 head. In the first sale for two weeks, quality in the offering was good across all categories. Grain-fed and Lucerne finished lines attracted strong demand, however not all buyers operated fully, with processors more selective.
Mutton throughput increased 39%, to 12,000 head. It was a mixed quality yarding, with all weights and grades well represented.
- Trade weight 3 score old lambs to slaughter were 7¢ lower, on 517¢/kg cwt
- Heavy weight 3 score old lambs to processors were back 4¢ on 519¢/kg cwt
- Extra heavy weight 4 score old lambs were 12¢ lower, on 504¢/kg
- Medium weight 2 score Merino ewes averaged 300¢, up 7¢/kg
At the close of Thursday’s markets:
- The eastern states restocker lamb indicator finished on 551¢, up 12¢/kg cwt on where it finished yesterday.
- Merino lambs were back 4¢, to 471¢/kg cwt
- Light lambs were back 1¢, to 515¢/kg cwt
- Trade lambs were back 5¢, to 526¢/kg cwt
- Heavy lambs were back 6¢, to 519¢/kg cwt
- The mutton indicator was up 2¢, on 300¢/kg cwt
