    Improving feedlot energy and water use efficiency
    This project monitored water and energy use over a 1 year period to determine opportunities for improving efficiency at a 30,000 head capacity steam flaking feedlot. Twenty-four meters were strategically located around the Feedlot and connected via communications equipment. Metering point location focused on high cost, high-value end uses to provide greater insight into boiler fuel, steam, water, and electricity cost.

    The current research explored the ability to predict BRD risk in 2,450 Australian feedlot cattle using Advanced Animal Diagnostics’ QScout® Cattle Lab, a chute-side blood test, which reports total leukocytes, neutrophils, mononuclear cells, eosinophils and neutrophil:mononuclear ratio.
