The cattle market generally lifted this week with strong processor demand for weaner cattle. Yardings increased by 7,027 to 24,547 head which is expected for the beginning of the year.

The cattle market has lifted significantly this week for all indicators. Yardings have eased by 1,092 to 50,971 head stabilising over the last week.

Markets lifted slightly this week off the back of slightly lower yardings and improved competition in sales but remained mostly unchanged from previous weeks. Yardings eased by 4,771 to 43,012 head, slightly below the four-week average but almost identical for the average for 2023.

Cattle prices lifted this week, particularly for feeder and restocker cattle. Yardings lifted 10,578 to 45,061 head, slightly above the five-week average of 44,677.
