    Lamb consignments throughout NSW reported markets increased by 13% week-on-week, for a total of 93,559 head. Dubbo slipped by 23%, at 19,420 lambs, as Tamworth lost 25% and penned 3,675 head.

    The cattle market eased this week. With Christmas at our doorstep, some key saleyards have closed for the year and will start up in the new year. Market reports states key buyers and processors were not operating thus entering a cheaper market compared to the previous week. Cattle yardings dropped by 75,112 to 7,452 head, however such a significant decline is expected given the time of year.

    The Eastern Young Cattle Indicator (EYCI) has eased 39c week-on-week to 1,013.57c/kg cwt. This is the lowest average price since September 2021 and is due to the mixed quality and variation in the drafts presenting at the saleyards, creating the two-tier pricing experienced over the last few weeks.
