Summary

MLA on behalf of key AADX partners was the recipient of the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) – National Agriculture Traceability Regulatory Technology Research and Insights grant, following the completion of Phases 2 and 3 of the AADX project. This project builds on Phases 1 to 3 of the AADX project, which co-designed a vision and business case for a whole of
industry Australian Agriculture Data Exchange that is anticipated to be owned and governed by industry. This exchange will enable the safe exchange of data, along with the generation of valuable insights increasing industry’s ability to compete in the global market.

Objectives

The objective of Phase 4 (Establishment Phase) of the AADX project is to establish the minimal viable product of the data exchange platform. This will include the development of a private data exchange, data marketplace, and web interface with self-service reporting, curated data set and data catalogue.

Benefits to industry

The benefit to industry will be an interconnected data highway making it possible to share, reuse and combine data across different agricultural commodities. The AADX will be a digital infrastructure that improves data availability and flow for regulation/compliance, foster industry transparency and innovation, and align Australia with leading agrifood-exporting nations.

MLA action

MLA is a foundation partner of the AADX project. MLA has made both a cash and in-kind contribution to Phase 4 of the AADX project.
