Summary

Bilateral, regional and multilateral trade agreements, such as CHAFTA and RCEP, have afforded better access into Greater China region with removals of prohibitive tariffs. Opportunities exist to reinforce Australian credentials and solidify our position as trusted and credible trade partners, as well as to progress priority non-tariff barrier challenges such as halal certification, labelling and listing requirements.

Working with Australian government and industry stakeholders, MLA:
- supported trade events and projects
- undertook representations
- provided briefings and facilitated industry roundtables and delegations to support greater trade engagement and further market reforms
- monitored market conditions
- updated industry with intel and insights to support decisions and actions in a timely manner.

Objectives

This project covers the reporting period of 2020 – 2025 and addresses
the following International Markets priorities for the Greater China Region:

  • Priority 1: Improve Market Access.
  • Priority 2: Deliver trusted and high quality insights (up and down the
    supply chain).
