Summary

This project provided secretariat services to SAFEMEAT Partners, the SAFEMEAT Advisory Group and agreed associated SAFEMEAT Working Groups. The SAFEMEAT Secretariat is delivered by the Department of Agriculture, Water and Environment and is responsible for ensuring the timely and effective operations of SAFEMEAT including the coordination and management of SAFEMEAT meetings, development and implementation of the SAFEMEAT communications plan, management of SAFEMEAT enquiries, maintenance of the SAFEMEAT Incidence Response Manual, coordination with external stakeholders and SAFEMEAT members, and providing support to the SAFEMEAT Partners Chair and SAFEMEAT Advisory Group Chair.

Objectives

1. Coordinate the activities of SAFEMEAT and work with SAFEMEAT members to ensure agreed activities are delivered in a timely manner.
2. Coordinate with SAFEMEAT Chairs and SAFEMEAT members to ensure that SAFEMEAT Partners and Advisory Group have access to complete, accurate and meaningful information in a timely manner that facilitates policy and operational decision making.
3. Develop a business plan aligned to SAFEMEAT and industry priorities (as identified within the Meat Industry Strategic Plan) and ensure coordination of activities between SAFEMEAT Partners and the SAFEMEAT Advisory Group.
4. Develop a schedule of meetings that aligns with member consultation frameworks.
