Summary
This project increased awareness, motivated and supported red meat supply chain business to implement use eNVD and shift to digital consignments.
Objectives
a. Engage and work with targeted red meat processors and other industry stakeholders (including feedlots, livestock transporters, saleyards and stock agents) to understand their needs and support requirements to transition their business and supply chain to digital consignments using electronic National Vendor Declaration (eNVD).
b. Co-develop with supply chains, bespoke communication, extension, and adoption activity plans that drive uptake of digital consignments in their supply chains.
c Provide ISC with insights on industry-wide support requirements that will fast track industry transition to digital consignments.
d. Provide ISC with expert advice on implementation and adoption of eNVD through the supply chain.
Key findings
This project engaged with processors, saleyards, producers, transporters Australia wide increasing the awareness and motivation to adopt eNVD and shift to digital consignments. This opened lines of communication between ISC and supply chain businesses. At least 10 company specific adoption plans were delivered adn the projects assisted ISC to understand the customer requirements and barriers to adopting the eNVD platform and shifting to digital consignments.
Benefits to industry
• Improved understanding of specific technical, cultural, capability and adoption needs of meat processors, saleyards, transporters, feedlots and agents to implement eNVD.
• A greater understanding of the support requirements needed to facilitate eNVD uptake.
• Increased industry awareness and motivation to promote the eNVD platform and greater awareness of industry intention to shift to digital eNVDs.
MLA action
ISC has used the project's learnings to continue to refine the eNVD platform and our approach to engaging and supporting supply chain businesses.
Future research
Uptake of the eNVD platform and industry shift to digital consignments will be an ongoing challenge. Industry will require ongoing support in use of the eNVD platform and supporting supply chain businesses to adopt the technologies, capabilities, culture and software requirements to be digital.
