The LPP is a five-year research and development partnership aimed at boosting livestock productivity and developing new R&D capacity, and is a joint initiative currently involving MLA Donor Company, NSW Department of Primary Industries, University of New England and CSIRO.

Objectives

The partnership will invest in research projects that focus on key red meat industry priorities, including:
- improving supply chain efficiency
- overcoming nutritional limits to livestock genetic potential
- improving reproductive performance and maternal efficiency
- sustainability of livestock production systems
- enhancing the feedbase by optimising grazing and soil management.

Key findings

The goal of the LPP is to contribute to a national increase in productivity improvement in the livestock industry from 1% to 2.5% per annum by developing regional and system-specific feedbase options, and new animal phenotyping and farm management tools, primarily for producers in NSW and southern/central Queensland.
