Summary

The work covers delivery of MLAs Profitable Grazing Systems (PGS) Off the Shelf ‘Getting Goats to Market’ Supported Learning Package (SLP) to a group of producers in Far West NSW. The Getting Goats to Market package investigates the key profit drivers in goatmeat enterprises and explores how these can be used in an on-farm production plan to improve financial returns. The delivery of this package will see engagement of up to 16 red meat producer participants.

Objectives

  • Delivery of MLA’s Off the Shelf Profitable Grazing Systems Supported Learning Package (SLP) ‘Getting Goats to Market’ to a group of cattle producers in Far West New South Wales.
  • Delivery is to commence in November 2021 and conclude within 18 months.

Key findings

Due to the nature of PGS delivery, there are no key findings.

Benefits to industry

The Profitable Grazing Systems (PGS) Program impact on participating producers is on average to receive a return of $17.47/ha due to the adoption of management practices.

MLA action

MLA continues to deliver the Profitable Grazing Systems (PGS) program, supporting participants to have the opportunity to develop and practice skills with small groups of like-minded producers to improve business performance.
