Summary

There has been a large body of work completed in the beef industry to understand greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions at a farm, regional and national scale, but less work has been done in sheep systems, with currently available information is fragmented across the sheepmeat and wool supply chains or is regionally specific and has used outdated data or methodology.

Objectives

This AWI led project “Pathways to low emissions in the Australian sheep industry' will provide a reporting framework, trend analysis and benchmark for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the sheepmeat and wool industries. This will underpin reporting for the Sheep Sustainability Framework (SSF) for wool and sheepmeat, in particular data to support relevant GHG emissions indicators and metrics.
