Summary
In light of ongoing downward trend in livestock exports, the goal is to utilise a scenario-based strategy approach to enable MLA, in collaboration with Livecorp, to reframe its perspectives, re-perceive changes in the environment, challenge assumptions and better prepare future strategies for livestock exports, particularly live sheep exports to MENA, which continue to reflect a downward trend.
Objectives
Understand the decline in sheep exports to the Middle East.
Key findings
Industry views in relation to the possibility that the government could end sheep exports to the Middle East (work was done prior to government policy announcement).
Benefits to industry
Industry views gathered and synthesised to better handle turbulent and uncertain contexts.
Future research
Depending on the development and outcomes of the Government's sheep phase out policy, more investment in strategy development would be the next step to consider, following this report.
