Summary

Monitoring and evaluation activities for the red meat integrity system have helped to inform ISC's strategies for program awareness and education.

Objectives

1. Implementation of the ISC Communication and Adoption MERI framework for 2020-21.
2. Development and coordination of implementation of the IS2025 MERI framework.
3. Coordination/liaison of all ISC MERI activities as part of contract V.ISC.2022, annual producer survey.
4. Provide analysis of MERI research activities for use in ISC.
5. Identify insights to inform ISC communication activities.

Key findings

• The continuation of the annual producers' survey, the identification of key trends in adoption of integrity programs and in producers' attitudes and the ability to segment the producer population in these terms.

• The provision of a MERI Plan for ISC for the period 2025.

• An analysis of segmentation as it may apply to the producer population with some insights into how this may assist with communications for ISC.

Benefits to industry

The benefits to industry are a longitudinal survey dataset enabling the tracking of producer compliance and attitudinal levels over time, plus a detailed plan for MERI activities for the next several years, inputs to other ISC communication and marketing campaigns, and some analysis of producer segments.

MLA action

ISC will continue with MERI activities in future as recommended during this project.

Future research

It is recommended to continue with MERI activities for producers and also to include some other participants in the red meat value chain for some MERI activities.
