Summary
This is an ongoing project where Elexon Electronics conduct benchmark testing of both new and existing radio frequency identification (RFID) cattle and sheep devices against reference transponders. This is done to assess performance characteristics of these transponders so they can adequately meet the required read range of RFID tags as specified in the National Livestock Identification Systen (NLIS) RFID Standard.
Objectives
- On request of Integrity Systems Company (ISC) and the provision of tags, undertake the standard suite of tests at room temperature, and provide a report in the agreed format.
- On request of ISC, undertake additional work to make future enhancements or complete addition testing outside the scope of regular work.
Benefits to industry
Testing RFID performance allows ISC to manage tag manufacturers and their products currently being produced and take action if devices aren't meeting the standard. It's imperative these tests are conducted to validate tag issues.
