Summary

This project was set up as a company managed activity (CMA) to fund non-contract invoices for the MLA Animal Wellbeing Program during FY23. This includes external reviews on an as needs basis, printing & formatting of MLA Wellbeing publications (e.g. bushfire manual); meeting expenses for consultation with researchers, working groups; and travel expenses for animal wellbeing project management. Funds to support communications and resources to support extension and adoption are essential. The program this coming FY has a suite of projects that will be completed that don’t have funds included in their project budget to extend and adopt. There is an opportunity to communicate and extend these project outcomes to producers and Australian red meat consumers more broadly.

Objectives

This CMA will cover external technical reviews on an as-needs basis, printing & formatting of MLA Wellbeing publications (e.g. bushfire lift out, manual); meeting expenses for consultation with researchers, working groups (animal welfare index); videoing potential case studies.
Other areas of focus that these CMA funds will be utilised for are:
(1) existing projects that have been contracted but don’t have a communications budget
(2) updating a lot of outdated, outward facing manuals and fact sheets, and
(3) additional extension activities for some projects for example a workshop series from the bushfire project as we head towards fire season.
