Summary

MLA's Business EDGE program provides practical training to red meat producers to upskill in financial literacy, financial management and planning. MLA partners with service providers across Australia to deliver the program, which is customised for different regions and production systems. This project formalises the agreement with Meridian Agriculture to deliver Business EDGE training in Victoria.

Objectives

The objective of this project is to:

  • formalise the agreement between MLA and Meridian Agriculture for the delivery of the Business EDGE program in Victoria
  • ensure the high-quality delivery of Business EDGE
  • outline the delivery requirements of the EDGEnetwork such as promotion and marketing, reporting, and deliverer development/training
  • ensure participants have access to thorough and up-to-date information through the Business EDGE program.

Key findings

Meridian Agriculture delivered five successful Business EDGE workshops in Victoria within project timeframe.

Benefits to industry

According to MLA's Producer Adoption Outcomes report, EDGEnetwork delivered $202.4 million in total net benefits to participating producers (calculated as net present value of adoption to 2045, discounted at 5% annually).

MLA action

MLA will continue to work with Meridian Agriculture to offer the Business EDGE program in Victoria.

Future research

MLA continues to update the Business EDGE materials as new R&D and information becomes available.
