Summary

This project is for management of the MSA audit program for the FY2019–20 period. The audit program has been put in place to audit MSA licensees to verify compliance to the MSA Standards and maintain the integrity of the MSA Trademark. Audits cover wholesalers, retail, food service outlets, supermarkets and saleyards. This contract provides for a maximum of 676 audits.

Objectives

The consultant managed the MSA audit program and undertook up to 662 audits of MSA licensed wholesalers, independent boning rooms, retailers, food service outlets, supermarkets and 14 audits of MSA-only licensed saleyards at a frequency determined by the integrity rating system outlined in the MSA Standards and the authorised authority. Reports on each audit outcome and summary of monthly outcomes were provided to MLA.

Benefits to industry

This project supported the integrity of the MSA Trademark and ensured compliance to the MSA Standards for End Users and Saleyards. The MSA Taskforce Committees endorsed an audit program and levy investment for these sectors of the supply chain.
