Summary
The principle of managing ewe condition score (CS) to variable targets across the annual production cycle is well established. Project B.LSM.0064 established CS targets for optimal animal outcomes. Whole farm modelling to determine the economically optimum CS profiles utilises the Australian Feeding Standards for Ruminants (AFSR). B.LSM.0064 determined that the AFS do not work well for modern maternal genetics. This project will redefine the AFSR for modern maternal genetics to enable whole-farm modelling to determine the economically optimal CS profiles for a range of production systems. The new feeding standards will be required for future whole farm systems modelling for maternal ewe lamb production systems.
