Summary
Producer Innovation Fast-Track was a pilot program in 2017/18 that recognised the future prosperity of industry requires new ways of thinking and approaches to challenges. The program acknowledged the importance of producer-led innovation and adoption to industry prosperity now and into the future.
The purpose of Fast-Track was to build the innovation capability of red meat producers to enable accelerated adoption of new innovation. The program outcomes was for more red meat producers to actively be involved in driving the innovation agenda and with the capability to identify, prepare and respond to future challenges and opportunities.
Producer Innovation Fast-track provided producers with a framework, resources, support and a co-funding mechanism to develop their innovation capabilities and develop and commercialise their innovations.
Producer Innovation Fast-Track engaged over 470 producers in 80 projects - 60% 'On-farm Trailblazers', 24% 'Food Products, New brands and Value Chains innovators' and 16% 'Entrepreneurs'. An independent BCA of the producer case studies deliver a BCA of 5.3:1 and identified change in producer innovation mindset and an increase in innovation capability for 94% of participants.
