Summary

MLA have engaged Kids Media Pty Ltd to develop a suite of innovative teaching and learning tools that are designed to inspire teachers and provide a fun learning approach for primary school students.

The creative direction will be developed to align with the new MLA Australian Good Meat platform as well as include illustrative imagery to engage the primary school audience. The illustrations developed will be used across all primary resources developed moving forward. Kid Media will be developing a range of resources that are specially formulated for Years Foundation to Year 6 are aligned to the Australian Science Curriculum and offer links to literacy, history and sustainability. Resources will have a focus on sustainability within Australian beef and lamb production, covering key topics such as sustainability on farm, animal welfare, the use of modern technology on the farm and the importance of including red meat as part of a healthy balanced diet.

All resources developed will be available on the 'Kids Media' resource sites and their partner sites, 'For Teachers For Students' and will include links to the MLA Australian Good Meat website where teachers can easily download.

Key outcomes:

  • Themed Curriculum Support Resources These resources are especially targeting middle / upper primary students. This set of resources includes, topic-appropriate facts for students, cross-curricular lesson and activities and student activity sheets, a week-long topic based unit of work.
  • Interactive Board game The interactive board game will be developed in in cross-platform HTML 5, suitable for desktop and portable devices (from an iPad mini upwards in size) and interactive whiteboards. The interactive board game will be developed using similar functionality to the following two examples covering key facts about animal welfare, sustainable farming and nutrition.

  • Printed Education Pack A new education pack will include classroom posters, student stickers, education brochures and other promotional items that will be available for all teachers.
  • Australian Schools and Teachers Promotional Package The development of a MLA Education Communications Table that includes listing appropriate education e-newsletters, websites, education publications and teacher conferences (for placing promotional items into delegates’ satchels) and shared education exhibition opportunities.
