ABARES Cost of Production Survey

Summary

​MLA has engaged ABARES to provide supplementary survey data (in addition to the core AAGIS survey which MLA funds) that will enable MLA to update the cost of production calculators for beef cattle and slaughter lamb production. They will also analyse the data to investigate whether or not there is evidence of economies of scale in the beef cattle and slaughter lamb industries in Australia. This project compares the cost of production estimates for beef cattle and slaughter lamb producers between the previous survey years and examine the physical and financial characteristics of producers that have experienced a change in cost of production.
