Summary

Historically, MDC has made significant co-investment globally with only very modest co-investment in the Australian university sector. MDC is expanding its investment funding pool and consequently is seeking new vehicles for co-investment into priority red meat research areas with a view towards commercial outcomes.
MDC is seeking to gain a better understanding of the Australian university research landscape to assist in its engagement with Australian universities. This project will meet this need providing the capabilities to screen, curate and prioritise universities with which MDC should explore partnerships.

Consulting & Implementation Services (CIS) will provide snapshot summaries for each of Australia’s 38 universities.
From this initial review a downstream engagement strategy will be created,  to enter into discussions with university management, to audit intellectual property positions at specific institutions in relation to MDC priorities, to run skills bootcamps and workshops, or to engage with specific co-investee projects to assist in their commercialisation.

In addition, it is anticipated that university-derived research projects that emerge as co-investment targets may conduct a portion of their commercialisation process as part of an under-development national agriculture and food incubator.
