Summary
The purpose of this project was the development and implementation of a Collaborative Innovation Strategy between Hardwicks and Meat & Livestock Australia. A Collaborative Innovation Strategy plan was designed and integrated into the Hardwick's business strategy and achievement of key business objectives around long-term profitability, competitiveness and sustainability.

1. Enhance the value proposition for Hardwick customers.
2. Drive efficiencies and business growth for Hardwicks.
3. Enhance the innovation culture and capability of Hardwicks and its people.
Key findings
Innovation capability building is critical to business success.
Benefits to industry
- Generic tools and approaches to building enterprise and supply chain innovation
capability and achieving innovation outcomes that will be disseminated to the broader
industry.
- Improved understanding of the critical issues impacting on the competitiveness of the
processing industry extended more broadly to other enterprises within the industry.
- New technologies and new scientific knowledge (arising from projects within the Hardwicks/MLA Innovation Program) commercialised and/or
disseminated for the benefit of the broader industry as agreed. A specific example included the creation of an on-site microgeneration grid for power production using renewable energy.
MLA action
Hardwicks were featured in MLA/AMPC field days showcasing their approach to innovation management.
