Summary

The annual national livestock export industry performance reports have become a highly valued industry output, summarising livestock exports from Australia by calendar year and describing mortality for sheep, cattle and goats. Information in the reports is obtained from ship Master's Reports which record livestock mortalities and other information about each voyage and from Yellow Books. All of this information is obtained, compiled, analysed and reported by Mr Greg Norman from DAFWA, under contract to MLA/LiveCorp.

This project has now compiled and developed a modern database that can house the historic Shipboard Mortality Database (SMDB) data and serve as a current resource to allow 2015-2016 data to be entered and continue to generate the annual performance reports. The purpose of this system is to provide data security and integrity and to give industry confidence that the SMDB is secure and can continue to provide the excellent outputs that industry expects.
