Summary
Following previous LEP activities in Russia and recent feedback from in market visits, there is an apparent need for continued training in low stress animal handling, feedlot and farm husbandry and management of cattle and horses. In addition, there has been a specific request from both exporter and importer for veterinary assistance in feedlot animal health and nutrition with particular emphasis on recognising, treating and managing sick and injured livestock.
The purpose of this project has been to produce a training DVD to help educate new employees handling Australian cattle in overseas markets (Russia/Europe). Key topic areas include training demonstrating best practice handling techniques at different stages of on farm management of a beef cattle operation and for the care, management and handling of cattle in a feedlot environment.
