Summary

​Beef Jam
A group of Australia's best and brightest young consumers and red meat producers recently embarked on a crash course of the Australian beef supply chain for Australia's first BeefJam.
The experience was devised by Target 100, an initiative of Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA), and Sydney's Youth Food Movement (YFM) to challenge the way Australians produce and consume beef.
Eight young urban consumers and seven members of the industry headed to Queensland last weekend to gain a glimpse into the Australia paddock to plate journey - from on-farm to abattoir right through to butcher.
After visiting a farm, a feedlot and a meat processor, the participants took part in an intense 48 hour 'jam', working together to challenge the way Australians produce and consume beef
The outcome of putting a diverse group of people into a room and asking them to collaborate over such sensitive and emotive topics could have had a testy outcome, but the results were surprising to all participants.
Collaborating with YFM on BeefJam has been invaluable for MLA and the insights will be used to ensure our community engagement program, remains relevant
