Summary

The aim of this trial was to investigate increasing the profitability of prime lamb production by using sires with negative (desirable) ASBVs for work egg count (WEC) to reduce the reliance on animal health chemicals. The specific objectives were to:
1. Demonstrate and increase of 10% in growth rate in a wormy environment by selecting sires with similar growth ASBVs but with negative WEC ASBVs.
2. Demonstrate a 50% reduction in drench usage to reach marketable specifications in a wormy environment by selecting sires with negative WEC ASBVs.
