Summary

In a previous project, NSW TAFE - New England Institute developed and documented industry approved competency based training programs specifically addressing the needs of workers involved in pen riding, feeding and milling, and maintenance activities at feedlots. These Certificate III level training programs were developed after extensive consultation with MLA, ALFA, the Beef CRC, and feedlots in New South Wales and Queensland. The competencies required by the various worker groups were identified and the programs developed to provide a portable nationally recognised qualification.
This project developed the topic based training and assessment materials necessary to support the training programs and made them accessible through an online database, allowing for easy updating, management and maintenance of the educational content and developed materials. It also facilitated compliance with the requirements of the Australian Quality Training Framework system, which is necessary to permit the issue of nationally recognised qualifications. Trainers and students have password protected access to the database, which is housed within the NSW TAFE - New England Institute.
