Summary
The purpose of this project was to collect data on the lambing performance (as measured by lamb marking rates) for ultrasound scanned ewes in a broad cross-section of Australian sheep flocks.
Key aspects of the project were: Scanning of ewe flocks to identify empty and single/twin bearing ewes
Subsequent collection and collation of lamb marking data on scanned ewe mobs for calculation of lamb marking and mortality rates
Partial subsidisation of scanning costs for cooperating producers to encourage participation
The project aimed to collect data on approximately 60,000 -80,000 scanned ewes.
