Climate outlook: August to October

01 August 2018

The BOM’s latest three-month climate outlook points to continued dry conditions for most of mainland Australia.

The updated outlook, issued 26 July, gives most of mainland Australia less than a 50% chance of receiving above-median rainfall between August and October. Days and nights are likely to be warmer than average, particularly days in August.

Drought affected areas in the southern and eastern mainland are less likely to see improved conditions in the coming months. The forecast raises major questions for the availability of stock feed and water for the rest of winter, with many producers in NSW not having seen decent rain since late 2017.
