Thursday daily sheep summary

CTLX yarded 12,300 head, up 4% week-on-week, with 7,800 lambs consigned. Quality was good, with good lines of heavy and trade weight lambs offered along with plenty of lambs to suit restockers.
Mutton numbers eased 21% to 4,500 head in a mixed offering where most weights and grades were offered.
- Light weight new season lambs to restockers were 49¢ dearer on 541¢/kg cwt
- Trade weight 3 score lambs to slaughter eased 76¢, averaging 515¢/kg cwt
- The heavy trade 4 score lines also to processor orders slipped up to 63¢, reaching 544¢ and averaging 530¢/kg cwt
- Light 2 score Merino ewes to slaughter were 45¢ cheaper, averaging 214¢/kg cwt
- First cross heavy 4 score ewes gained 3¢, to average 258¢/kg cwt
- Heavy 4 score Merino wethers jumped 46¢, to average 358¢/kg cwt
Lamb consignments to Hamilton declined 37% to 9,128 head. Quality was very mixed and the overall yarding was lighter, with no extra heavy lambs on offer.
- Light 2 score young lambs to restockers eased 3¢, to average 586¢, and reached 600¢/kg cwt
- Trade weight 2 score lambs to slaughter sold from 505¢ to 584¢, to average 548¢/kg cwt
- Heavier 3 score trade weights to slaughter slipped 7¢, averaging 541¢/kg cwt
- Heavy 3 score lambs also to processors reached 570¢ and averaged 539¢, back 13¢/kg cwt
At the close of Wednesday’s markets:
- The eastern states restocker lamb indicator slipped 1¢ to 558¢/kg cwt
- Merino lambs slipped 2¢ to 490¢/kg cwt
- Light lambs jumped 3¢ to 528¢/kg cwt
- Trade lambs were back 5¢, at 542¢/kg cwt
- Heavy lambs declined 5¢ to 541¢/kg cwt
- The mutton indicator remained steady on 310¢/kg cwt
