Thursday daily sheep summary

Numbers at CTLX Carcoar remained limited due to the widespread rain across the region. Quality was fair and the yarding consisted of a few lines of new season lambs, some pens of heavy old lambs and a mixed yarding of mutton, with most selling to a dearer trend.

• New season trade weight 3 score lambs were up 15¢, at 651¢/kg cwt
• Old season light weight 2 score crossbred lambs averaged 575¢/kg cwt
• Old season trade weight 3 score lambs were up 15¢, at 618¢/kg cwt
• Medium weight 3 score Merino ewes sold to 433¢ and averaged 414¢/kg cwt

The yarding at Horsham lifted to 14,697 head and predominantly consisted of new season lambs. The market was strong and sold to a dearer trend, with a full field of buyers present and operating.

• New season trade weight first cross 3 score lambs reached 632¢ and averaged 593¢/kg cwt
• New season heavy weight 3 score lambs sold between 556¢ and 665¢ and averaged 612¢/kg cwt
• Medium weight 2 score Merino ewes topped at 456¢ and averaged 417¢/kg cwt  

At the close of Wednesday’s markets:

• The eastern states restocker lamb indicator eased 3¢, to 671¢/kg cwt
• Merino lambs were back 6¢, on 579¢/kg cwt
• Light lambs were up 1¢, on 611¢/kg cwt
• Trade lambs were down 2¢, on 629¢/kg cwt
• Heavy lambs were back 1¢, to 621¢/kg cwt
• The mutton indicator settled 3¢ higher, on 406¢/kg cwt
