Thursday daily sheep summary

Lamb numbers at CTLX decreased 45% this week, to 7,000 head. Wet conditions saw numbers decline, with trade weights making up the bulk of the yarding, along with a handful of heavy weights.
Mutton throughput decreased 9%, to 2,500 head. Most grades were represented in what was a mixed quality yarding overall.
- Light weight 2 score lambs to processors averaged 539¢, back 53¢/kg cwt
- Trade weight 3 score lambs to slaughter were back 70¢, at 601¢/kg cwt
- Heavy weight 4 score lambs to processors finished 21¢ lower, at 645¢/kg cwt
- Medium weight 4 score Merino wethers averaged 464¢/kg cwt
Lamb consignments at Horsham decreased 67%, to 2,577 head. Most of the usual buying group operated, with conditions varying across all categories. Lambs sold firm to marginally cheaper week-on-week, with trade weights well supplied.
Sheep numbers declined 40%, to 851 head. Heavy merino ewes in full wool were well represented, with most lines selling to steady competition.
- Light weight 2 score Merino lambs slipped 84¢, averaging 477¢/kg cwt
- Trade weight 3 score lambs to processors were 1¢ lower, on 585¢/kg cwt
- Heavy weight 4 score lambs to slaughter eased 14¢, averaging 653¢/kg cwt
- Light weight 2 score Merino ewes slipped 4¢, averaging 428¢/kg cwt
At the close of Wednesday’s markets:
- The eastern states restocker lamb indicator averaged 581¢, back 3¢/kg cwt from where it finished the previous day
- Merino lambs were back 1¢, on 587¢/kg cwt
- Light lambs were back 7¢, to 586¢/kg cwt
- Trade lambs were back 10¢, to 621¢/kg cwt
- Heavy lambs were back 3¢, to 639¢/kg cwt
- The mutton indicator declined 12¢, on 380¢/kg cwt
