Friday daily sheep summary

Lamb consignments at Wagga decreased 14% this week, to 32,850 head. Quality was fair with plenty of well finished heavy, extra heavy and trade weight lambs on offer. All the usual buyers were present and operating in a dearer market.
Mutton numbers dropped 40%, to 6,050 head. Quality had improved since last week with a good selection of heavy sheep on offer.
- Light weight 3 score old lambs to slaughter averaged 635¢, up 46¢/kg cwt
- Trade weight 3 score old lambs to slaughter were up 53¢, to 634¢/kg cwt
- Heavy weight 4 score old lambs to processors averaged 668¢/kg cwt
- Extra heavy weight 4 score old lambs gained 50¢, to 655¢/kg cwt
- Medium weight 3 score Merino ewes eased 14¢, averaging 449¢/kg cwt
- Heavy weight 3 score first-cross ewes averaged 424¢, up 11¢/kg cwt
At the close of Thursday’s markets:
- The eastern states restocker lamb indicator averaged 627¢, down 2¢/kg cwt from where it finished the previous day
- Merino lambs were up 9¢, on 568¢/kg cwt
- Light lambs held firm, on 599¢/kg cwt
- Trade lambs were up 13¢, on 627¢/kg cwt
- Heavy lambs were up 13¢, to 636¢/kg cwt
- The mutton indicator was 11¢ higher, on 414¢/kg cwt
