Friday daily sheep summary

Consignments to Wagga remained lower than usual for this time of year, with wet weather restricting numbers. Despite this, lamb numbers lifted from last week to 24,000 head and included just over 14,000 head of good quality new season lambs. Not all the usual export and domestic buyers attended however restockers and lot feeders were active across lighter weight new season categories.

A smaller yarding of 4,000 head of mixed quality mutton was offered, with reasonable numbers of heavy sheep.

• New season trade weight 3 score lambs to slaughter were 20¢ cheaper, at 638¢/kg cwt
• Old season trade weight 3 score lambs to processors eased 38¢ week-on-week to average 610¢/kg cwt
• Medium weight 2 score Merino ewes averaged 366¢ while 3 scores eased 12¢ and averaged 401¢/kg cwt

At the close of Thursday’s markets:

• The eastern states restocker lamb indicator jumped 5¢, to 676¢/kg cwt
• Merino lambs were back 11¢, on 568¢/kg cwt
• Light lambs were 8¢ lower, on 603¢/kg cwt
• Trade lambs were down 5¢, on 624¢/kg cwt
• Heavy lambs were back 4¢, to 617¢/kg cwt
• The mutton indicator settled 5¢ lower, on 401¢/kg cwt
