Friday daily sheep summary

Lamb consignments at Wagga increased 24% this week, to 38,000 head. After the wet conditions recorded the week prior, numbers lifted considerably, with a good to mixed level of quality seen across the offering. All the major buyers operated fully, with trade and heavy lines holding firm to easier in places and secondary lambs presenting in notable condition.
Mutton numbers increased 75%, to 10,000 head. Quality was mixed across most categories this week, with all weights and grades well represented and demand for heavy crossbred ewes easing.
- Trade weight 3 score old lambs to processors gained 15¢, at 625¢/kg cwt
- Heavy weight 4 score old lambs to slaughter averaged 613¢, back 6¢/kg cwt
- Extra heavy weight 4 score old lambs were back 7¢, averaging 605¢/kg cwt
- Medium weight 2 score Merino ewes eased 7¢, averaging 358¢/kg cwt
At the close of Thursday’s markets:
- The eastern states restocker lamb indicator averaged 594¢/kg cwt, hold firm on where it finished the previous day
- Merino lambs were up 2¢, on 558¢/kg cwt
- Light lambs were up 3¢, to 587¢/kg cwt
- Trade lambs were up 2¢, to 610¢/kg cwt
- Heavy lambs were up 1¢, on 613¢/kg cwt
- The mutton indicator settled 6¢ lower, on 397¢/kg cwt
