Friday daily sheep summary

Lamb throughput at Wagga decreased 27% this week, yarding 30,550 head. Wet conditions saw numbers reduce, resulting in a lift in prices across most categories. Demand for heavy export lines strengthened notably, with trade sections benefiting from stronger bidding from domestic processors.
Mutton consignments declined 47%, to 5,700 head. Quality was mixed, with all weights and grades well represented.
- Trade weight 3 score old lambs to slaughter jumped 6¢, to 610¢/kg cwt
- Heavy weight 4 score old lambs gained 24¢, averaging 619¢/kg cwt
- Extra heavy weight 4 score old lambs averaged 7¢ higher, at 612¢/kg cwt
- Medium weight 2 score Merino ewes dropped 49¢, averaging 365¢/kg cwt
At the close of Thursday’s markets:
- The eastern states restocker lamb indicator was back 3¢ on where it finished the previous day, on 633¢/kg cwt
- Merino lambs were up 2¢, on 562¢/kg cwt
- Light lambs were back 6¢, to 584¢/kg cwt
- Trade lambs were back 4¢, to 589¢/kg cwt
- Heavy lambs were up 3¢, on 607¢/kg cwt
- The mutton indicator back 3¢, on 393¢/kg cwt
