Friday daily sheep summary

Lamb throughput at Wagga increased 19% this week, to 39,000 head. Quality was mixed across most categories, with a good amount seen in places. Trade weight drafts fluctuated in price, with the better finished pens firm to slightly dearer. Secondary lamb supplies lifted, selling strongly to exporters, with all other buyers operating fully.
Mutton numbers increased 49%, to 9,000 head. Quality varied across the offering, with all weights and grades on offer. Demand for heavy ewes eased, however not all buyers operating fully.
- Trade weight 3 score old lambs to processors averaged 652¢, up 17¢/kg cwt
- Heavy weight 4 score old lambs to slaughter eased 20¢, to 655¢/kg cwt
- Extra heavy weight 4 score old lambs averaged 645¢, back 10¢/kg cwt
- Medium weight 3 score old Merino ewes were up 4¢, to 414¢/kg cwt
At the close of Thursday’s markets:
- The eastern states restocker lamb indicator averaged 606¢, up 6¢/kg cwt from where it finished the previous day
- Merino lambs were back 4¢, on 590¢/kg cwt
- Light lambs were up 4¢, to 612¢/kg cwt
- Trade lambs were back 4¢, to 645¢/kg cwt
- Heavy lambs were back 4¢, to 656¢/kg cwt
- The mutton indicator declined 4¢, on 412¢/kg cwt
