Wednesday daily sheep summary

Throughput at Forbes was back 4%, with 38,163 head offered. Quality was similar to last week and the usual buyers were present and competing in a slightly cheaper market.
- Trade weight 3 score lambs to slaughter eased 9¢, averaging 520¢/kg cwt
- The heavier trade 4 score lines to the same orders slipped 21¢, averaging 547¢ and selling to 570¢/kg cwt
- Heavy export 4 score lambs lost 20¢, averaging 531¢/kg cwt
- Light 2 score Merino ewes to slaughter improved 8¢, averaging 338¢/kg cwt
- Medium 3 score Merino ewes slipped 5¢, to average 339¢/kg cwt
Ballarat yarded 33,651 sheep and lambs, a decline of 24% week-on-week. Quality was good, with fair numbers of heavy and extra heavy lambs offered. Lambs suited for the domestic market were mostly firm, while the heavier end was slightly cheaper. The sheep sold firm to a slightly dearer trend.
- Trade weight 3 score lambs to slaughter sold from 495¢ to 581¢, to average 534¢/kg cwt
- Heavy 4 score lambs to slaughter slipped 27¢, averaging 532¢/kg cwt
- Medium 3 score Merino ewes improved 1¢, averaging 310¢/kg cwt
- Heavy 4 score ewes to slaughter gained 16¢, averaging 273¢/kg cwt
At the close of Tuesday’s markets:
- The eastern states restocker lamb indicator increased 9¢ to 559¢/kg cwt
- Merino lambs slipped 15¢ to 492¢/kg cwt
- Light lambs eased 4¢ to 525¢/kg cwt
- Trade lambs were back 3¢, at 547¢/kg cwt
- Heavy lambs declined 5¢ to 546¢/kg cwt
- The mutton indicator lost 1¢, on 310¢/kg cwt
