Friday daily sheep summary

Lamb consignments at Wagga declined 23%, to 23,000 head, due to considerable rain across the supply area. Heavy and extra heavy lambs were well-supplied and attracted keen competition. There were a reduced number of trade weights on offer, although quality was outstanding. Light weight lambs suitable for restocker and feeder buyers were limited.
Sheep throughput fell 13%, to 8,700 head, and bidding across most grades was strong, with prices trending dearer across the yarding.
- Light weight 2 score lambs averaged 547¢/kg cwt
- Trade weight 3 score lambs lifted 29¢ on 600¢/kg cwt
- Heavy weight 3 score lambs jumped 17¢ on 577¢/kg cwt
- Extra heavy weight 4 score lambs were 37¢ dearer on 576¢/kg cwt
At the close of Thursday’s markets:
- The eastern states restocker lamb indicator increased 22¢ on 556¢/kg cwt
- Merino lambs lifted 9¢ on 467¢/kg cwt
- Light lambs were up 7¢ on 507¢/kg cwt
- Trade lambs rose 14¢ on 549¢/kg cwt
- Heavy lambs were 9¢ higher on 554¢/kg cwt
- The mutton indicator increased 13¢ on 290¢/kg cwt
