Friday daily sheep summary

Lamb throughput at Wagga decreased 17% this week, yarding 34,000 head. Dry conditions continued to have an impact quality, with lighter weights showing the effects. Quality throughout heavier lines was good, with the bulk of the offering Lucerne finished or supplementary fed.
Mutton numbers declined 11%, to 10,000 head. Quality was mixed across the yarding, with all weights and grade well represented. Heavy Merino ewes in full wool attracted a large field of buyers, resulting in a dearer price trend.
- Light weight 2 score old lambs to restockers averaged 607¢, up 23¢/kg cwt
- Trade weight 3 score old lambs to processors eased 8¢, to 496¢/kg cwt
- Extra heavy weight 4 score old lambs averaged 470¢, down 16¢/kg cwt
- Medium weight 3 score Merino ewes jumped 19¢, to 340¢/kg cwt
At the close of Thursday’s markets:
- The eastern states restocker lamb indicator finished at 516¢, back 7¢/kg cwt on where it finished yesterday.
- Merino lambs were back 1¢, at 464¢/kg cwt
- Light lambs were back 5¢, on 486¢/kg cwt
- Trade lambs were back 2¢, on 503¢/kg cwt
- Heavy lambs were back 3¢, on 496¢/kg cwt
- The mutton indicator was up 5¢, to 313¢/kg cwt
