Friday daily sheep summary

Consignments to Wagga dropped 30% to 36,000 head. Lamb numbers eased 38%, with 26,000 yarded. Trade and heavy weight lambs were well supplied, despite being in fewer numbers than last week and export lambs carried less weight than last week’s market.
Mutton numbers were back 10% to 10,000 head in a mixed offering where all weights and grades were represented.
- Light weight 3 score young lambs to processors were 46¢ dearer on 569¢/kg cwt
- Heavier trade weight lambs to slaughter reached 596¢ and averaged 553¢, back 48¢/kg cwt
- The heavy weight 3 score lines also to processor orders slipped 28¢, to average 541¢/kg cwt
- Extra heavy weight 4 score lambs sold 33¢ cheaper, selling between 469¢ and 579¢ to average 520¢/kg cwt
- Heavy weight first cross four score ewes remained firm on 274¢/kg cwt
At the close of Thursday’s markets:
- The eastern states restocker lamb indicator eased 5¢ to 553¢/kg cwt
- Merino lambs slipped 6¢ to 484¢/kg cwt
- Light lambs gained 1¢ to 529¢/kg cwt
- Trade lambs were back 6¢, at 536¢/kg cwt
- Heavy lambs declined 6¢ to 535¢/kg cwt
- The mutton indicator was 2¢ dearer on 312¢/kg cwt
