Friday daily sheep summary

Lamb numbers at Wagga decreased 4% week-on-week, to 41,150 head. Dry seasonal conditions saw offerings of well-bred secondary lambs increase, although with many requiring more finish. Quality across the yarding was very good over all categories, with grain-fed lines attracting strong demand from processors.
Mutton throughput decreased 8%, to 11,200 head. Quality was mixed this week, with all weights and grades well supplied.
- Light weight 2 score old Merino lambs to restockers were up 35¢, to 499¢/kg cwt
- Trade weight 3 score old lambs to slaughter were 12¢ lower, on 504¢/kg cwt
- Extra heavy weight 4 score old lambs averaged 486¢, back 18¢/kg cwt
- Medium weight 3 score Merino ewes averaged 322¢, up 25¢/kg cwt
At the close of Thursday’s markets:
- The eastern states restocker lamb indicator finished at 541¢, up 3¢/kg cwt on where it finished yesterday.
- Merino lambs held firm, at 467¢/kg cwt
- Light lambs held firm, at 504¢/kg cwt
- Trade lambs were back 1¢, at 517¢/kg cwt
- Heavy lambs were back 4¢, to 505¢/kg cwt
- The mutton indicator was back 1¢, to 319¢/kg cwt
