Wet in the west – BOM

According to the Bureau of Meteorology’s (BOM) latest rainfall outlook, covering the period of October to December, there is an increased chance of a wetter than average three months in south-western and central Australia. In contrast, BOM forecasts that it will be drier than average along parts of the east coast, attributed to the established El Niño in the Pacific Ocean.
- WA is likely to enjoy wetter conditions in the three months to December, with southern parts of the state having a 60-75% chance of exceeding the median rainfall, most likely in November.
- SA, NT and some parts of southwest Queensland also have a 60-75% chance of exceeding median rainfall.
- The chances of a wetter or drier than average three months for large parts of Queensland are roughly equal, with the exception of far north Queensland, which is likely to receive below average rain for the period.
- The outlook for NSW and Victorian rainfall is mostly neutral, although the south coast of NSW has a lower chance of exceeding the median rainfall.
Warmer night time temperatures are expected in late spring and into summer across the majority of the country, and, as well as drier conditions, warmer days along parts of the southern and eastern coasts.
