WA weekly sheep summary

Lambs
Lamb supply across WA markets improved 4% week-on-week, to 12,500 head. Quality improved at Muchea, with most lamb prime new season trade and heavy weights.
- Lamb supply at Katanning lifted 20%, to 6,000 head
- Muchea consigned 7% less lambs at 6,500 head
Light weight 3 score young lambs to slaughter were 29¢ cheaper on 437¢, while the 2 score lines eased 11¢ to 493¢/kg cwt. Trade weight 2 score young lambs to slaughter slipped 18¢ to 495¢, while the 3 score lines eased 32¢ to average 498¢/kg cwt.
Mutton
WA mutton supply lifted 18% week-on-week, to 14,592 head. All buyers were in attendance, however competition noticeably reduced.
- Muchea supply eased 10%, to 6,678 head
- Katanning yarded 59% more sheep at 7,914 head
Light weight 2 score restocker Merino ewes slipped 43¢ to 238¢, while medium weight 2 score Merino ewes decreased 9¢ to settle on 281¢/kg cwt. Heavy weight 3 score Merino ewes lost 28¢ to average 274¢/kg cwt. Light weight 2 score restocker Merino young wethers settled on 368¢, down 63¢/kg cwt.
