WA weekly sheep summary

Lambs
WA lamb supply this week lifted significantly, up 56%, totalling 12,501 head.
- Supplies at Katanning attributed mostly to the rise, more than doubling on last week, with 7,001 head yarded
- Muchea yarded 5,500 head, up 10% week-on-week
Lambs at Muchea were mostly light weight young lambs, some with seed and burr contamination.
Light weight 2 score young lambs to restockers were 13¢ cheaper on 448¢, while those to feeders lost 44¢ to average 406¢/kg cwt. Light weight 3 score young lambs to slaughter eased 51¢ to 415¢, while trade weight 2 score lambs to slaughter decreased 47¢ to settle on 413¢/kg cwt.
Mutton
WA sheep supplies eased with a total of 11,324 head yarded.
- Throughput at Katanning was 39% lower on 5,000 head
- Muchea yarded 6,324 head, down 31% week-on-week
Quality reduced, with large amounts of light weight and framed lines at Muchea and live export competition was limited, affecting wether prices.
Medium weight 2 score Merino ewes eased 21¢ to average 205¢, while heavy weight 3 scores were 17¢ cheaper on 202¢/kg cwt.
Light and medium weight Merino wethers to restockers were cheaper to average around 360¢/kg cwt.
