Lamb
Lamb supply lifted 18% week-on-week to 18,707 head.
- Hamilton throughput halved to offer 1,555 head
- Horsham numbers were up 52% to 2,609 head
- Consignments at Bendigo jumped by 38% to 9,895 head
- Ballarat penned 4,648 head, up 14%
Trade weight 3 score new season lambs to slaughter sold 20¢ cheaper on 603¢, while first cross lambs reached 605¢ and averaged 590¢/kg cwt. Heavy weights reached 652¢ and averaged 608¢, back 31¢/kg cwt.
Light weight 2 score Merino lambs gained 45¢ to average 519¢, while those to slaughter 529¢, back 43¢/kg cwt. First cross light weights gained 28¢ to return 565¢/kg cwt.
Trade weight first crosses in the 3 score category lifted 11¢ to 573¢, while heavy weights eased 2¢ to 566¢/kg cwt.
Mutton
Mutton consignments lifted by a marginal 1% to offer 18,918 head.
- Horsham eased by only 1% to 4,229 head
- Supply at Bendigo was reduced by 22% to pen 8,523 head
- Numbers at Hamilton reached 2,328 head, up 65%
- Ballarat consigned 3,838 head, up 83%
Light weight 1 score Merino ewes lost 21¢ to return 378¢, while 2 score Merinos slipped 5¢ to average 391¢/kg cwt. Medium weight Merino ewes returned 378¢ for 2 scores, back 4¢ and averaged 390¢, up 5¢/kg cwt for 3 scores. First cross 3 score heavy weight ewes gained 8¢ to average 356¢, while 4 scores reached 382¢ and averaged 338¢, back 1/kg cwt.
Medium weight 2 score Merino wethers returned 362¢, back 45¢, while heavy weights slipped 5¢ to average 379¢/kg cwt.
