Lamb
Victorian lamb throughput was steady week-on-week, with a total of 57,060 head yarded in MLA reported saleyards.
- Bendigo consignments fell by 12% to 24,364 head
- Ballarat lamb supply reached 21,829 head, up 50%
- Horsham yarding’s totalled 10,202 head, representing a decline of 25%
- Hamilton throughput decreased 25%, to yard 918 head
Light weight new season lambs were bought by restockers for up to 506¢ and were 15¢ cheaper, averaging 461¢, while heavier trade weight 3 score lambs sold between 410¢ and 495¢, averaging 456¢, back 40¢/kg cwt. Trade weight 2 score crossbred lambs sold to a high of 505¢ and averaged 469¢, down 27¢/kg cwt.
Heavy 3 score new season lambs averaged 457¢, back 7¢/kg cwt. Extra heavy new season lambs sold to export for a top of 463¢, averaging 448¢/kg cwt.
Mutton
Sheep consignments decreased 5% week-on-week, with 23,675 head yarded across the state.
- Bendigo throughput increased 13%, to yard 10,343 head
- Ballarat consignments jumped 13%, to yard 9,922 head
- Hamilton supply declined 58% to 957 head
- Horsham yarded 2453 head, down 43%
Light weight 1 score Merino ewes sold between 178¢ and 306¢, before settling on an average of 264¢, back 47¢, while light weight 2 score Merino ewes fell 35¢, to average 269¢/kg cwt. Medium weight 2 score Merino ewes sold to a high of 314¢ and averaged 268¢, back 48¢, while 3 score medium Merino ewes also fell 42¢ to average 260¢/kg cwt.
Heavy 3 score Merino wethers sold between 265¢ and 288¢ and averaged 274¢/kg cwt.
