Lamb
Victorian lamb consignments eased 25%, to total 21,930 head, with all MLA reported saleyards recording a decline.
- Ballarat numbers eased 31%, to 3,004 head
- Bendigo consigned 21% less, with 11,555 head yarded
- Hamilton throughput totalled 1,504 head, back 14%
- Horsham yardings eased 32%, to 5,867 head
New season light weight crossbred 2 score lambs to restockers averaged 589¢, back 5¢, while heavier light weight 3 scores to slaughter eased 29¢, to 580¢/kg cwt. Trade weight 3 scores to slaughter returned 601¢, back 14¢, and heavier trade weights eased 18¢, to average 589¢/kg cwt. Heavy weight 4 scores to processors sold between 570¢ and 628¢ and averaged 595¢, to be 29¢/kg cwt cheaper.
Trade weight 3 score old lambs sold to processors between 500¢ and 605¢ and averaged 562¢, back 23¢/kg cwt.
Mutton
Sheep consignments remained firm week-on-week, with 21,583 head yarded across the state.
- Bendigo consigned 10,383 head, up 4%
- Ballarat numbers eased 18%, to 4,034 head
- Hamilton supply eased 16%, to total 1,770 head
- Horsham and 17% more sheep, at 5,396 head
Light weight 2 score Merino ewes reached 439¢ and averaged 396¢, to be 7¢ dearer, while medium weight 3 score Merinos averaged 397¢, up 3¢/kg cwt.
Medium weight 2 score Merino wethers eased 14¢, to 382¢, and 3 scores were 3¢ cheaper, at 392¢/kg cwt.
